Graphite Portrait Man Drawing Pencil Paper by Kai Lun Qu

Graphite Portrait Methods

✏️ Uncover rhythm, restraint, and expression in pencil. In this 1.5+ hour drawing demo, Kai Lun Qu takes you through his non-stop graphite technique—watching a portrait evolve from loose gesture into refined form.

You’ll learn how to:
🎯 Start confidently with a broad, energetic sketch and use rhythm to guide your mark-making
🔍 Build gradually—layering structure, value, and texture without overworking the drawing
📐 Feel the form in space—use light, shadow, edge variation, and confident line to animate the portrait
🌟 Merge spontaneity with control—what may look chaotic at first becomes internalized, expressive structure by the end

Perfect for artists looking to deepen their sense of gesture, value control, and drawing confidence in a fundamental medium. Runtime: 1+ hour
