Meet Tiffanie Mang | Color Key Artist | Art Director | Gouache Landscapes

Tiffanie Mang is a visual development artist, landscape painter, and art instructor who straddles the worlds of animation and fine art. She currently works as the Art Director for Color at Premise Entertainment and as a color key artist at Titmouse. Her past clients include Marvel Studios, Cartoon Saloon, and Universal Music Group.

In 2016, Tiffanie was one of the painter animators who contributed to the Oscar-nominated animated feature Loving Vincent, a completely hand-painted film in oil paints illustrating the life of Van Gogh. While living in Gdansk, Poland, she worked on the film for six months in a studio with 125 other talented artists from around the world. Working on that film significantly kickstarted Tiffanie’s journey into the world of fine art.

She is best known for her gouache landscape work and has a passion for capturing landscapes en plein air. Tiffanie is also incredibly honored to have been featured in renowned magazines such as Plein Air Magazine, The Guide Artist Magazine, and others.

Mentorship Programs

Frequently asked questions

What if I can't make it to live sessions?

Each live session will be recorded and uploaded to the course for you to rewatch. At the end of the four month program, students will enjoy a fifth month free where they can rewatch all of the lectures and critiques from the live classes, plus any additional lectures and demos Tiffanie provides throughout the session.

What if I need to leave the program early?

This program is a commitment of four months. However, we understand that occasionally personal emergencies may prevent an artist from unexpectedly continuing with the program. If you are an artist enrolled in a mentorship program and need to end your enrollment, please email julie@sentientacademy.com

This should, however, be a worst case scenario as accepting one of the seats in this program prevents another artist from participating. 

I am confused about how much this program costs!

  • Tiffanie Mang's Advanced Mentorship is $400 per month ($1600 over the four month program) 
  • The Standard Mentorship is $350 per month ($1400 over the four month program)
  • The Audited Program is $98 per month ($392 over the four month program)

I'm confused about the layout of this Mentorship! Where can I get extra help? 

If you have enrolled in a mentorship program but you find you are a little confused about any of the following:

I'm interested in the Advanced program. How do I know if my work is good enough yet?

If you really want to be apart of the advanced program but aren't sure about the quality of your work, we would encourage you to apply regardless. It may be that Tiffanie feels you are a perfect fit for her Standard program. The Standard mentorship program is also an excellent place for artists to strengthen their skills and grow significantly. 

What if I only want to apply for the audited program?

The audited program is only available at the discretion of Tiffanie. She may not always choose to run the audited program, and she may only open a limited number of seats. I've been studying with Tiffanie for a long time and her lessons have taught me so much. Before the mentorship, I only knew how to do photo studies, but I didn't have an in-depth understanding of color and lighting, nor did I know how to apply them into my own work.

When I'm outside now, I look at the clouds and buildings and marvel at the hue shifts, temperature changes, and value contrasts that I never noticed before! It's like another dimension to existence has been unlocked, and I am excited to apply my newfound knowledge to my work going forward.

Practically speaking, Tiffanie's mentorship curriculum is extremely robust. Tiffanie teaches that painting well and understanding light/color comes from an amalgamation of different kinds of study - plein airs, matrix studies, fine art master studies, film studies, personal experimentation, etc. She leads us into exploring all of these (at a pace tailored to each individual) and explains in her demos how she synthesizes insights from such varied experiences. Her consummate knowledge of her craft is apparent in her ability to field all kinds of questions, helping both beginners and more advanced students.

Additionally, she constantly role-models curiosity and the desire to improve. This passion and humility makes her a uniquely inspiring teacher...her confidence gradually translates into your own. I could not more highly recommend her mentorship to anyone looking to become a better painter and artist!

Tiffanie has been instrumental in my artistic progress. As a self-taught painter, I didn't quite understand how light worked nor how important shapes were to a painting.
