Yosemite Value Studies in Gouache

🏞️ Dive into the drama of light and dark in one of nature’s grandest stages. In this 1+ hour gouache demo, Tayler Olivas leads you through a series of value-studies set in Yosemite National Park—showing how a limited value palette can sharpen your vision and add clarity to even the most complex landscape.

You’ll learn how to:

  • 🎨 Focus intensely on value relationships (lights, mid-tones, darks) so your forms read clearly even before color steps in.

  • 🧠 Simplify complicated terrain into readable planes of value and shape—so giant cliffs, forests, and skies become manageable.

  • 🔍 Use gouache’s versatility to make swift, confident marks and study environment at a pace that builds intuition.

  • 🌟 Transfer this value-first mindset into your color work—making everything you paint afterwards stronger, clearer, and more intentional.

Ideal for landscape artists or anyone who wants to deepen their foundational skills—this demo helps you see value like a pro and paint with more structure and impact. Runtime: 1+ hour
