Pet Portrait Series: Furball

🐱 Capture fur, form, and feline personality with expressive confidence. In this 2.5+ hour demo, Kai Lun Qu leads you through painting a regal cat portrait — combining realism with painterly energy, without getting lost in every single hair.

You’ll learn how to:

  • 🎨 Suggest the softness and texture of fur with thoughtful edge control — using lost and soft edges rather than over-detailing with a #0 brush

  • 🌗 Use subtle shifts in fur color and value to build believable form and volume

  • 🖌️ Build structure with strong shapes first, then layer painterly brushwork for expression and depth

  • 💡 Work alla prima (wet-into-wet) with intention — balancing spontaneity and control to keep the piece feeling alive

Ideal for advanced artists who want to bring animal portraits to life with emotional power and technical skill. 🕒 Runtime: 2.5+ hours
